Currency and language
The currency on money values in dashboards, and the language Mira describes your data in.
Overview
Two settings decide how Mira writes about your organisation's data: the currency on money values, and the language it describes your tables in. Both are under Currency and language on the General page of Settings.
| Setting | What it decides | Starts as |
|---|---|---|
| Default currency | The symbol on money values in dashboards, when nothing else names the currency. | British pound (£) |
| Default language | The language Mira writes its descriptions of your tables and columns in. | English |
Open the organisation menu at the top of the sidebar, choose Settings, then General. Only Owners and Admins can change these. Each change saves straight away and applies to everyone in the organisation.
Default currency
The default currency is the symbol Mira puts on a money value when the data doesn't say which currency it is in. You can pick any of more than 150 currencies.
When Mira builds a money figure for a dashboard, such as a KPI card or a column in a table of figures, it looks for the currency in this order:
| Mira looks at | Example | Shown as |
|---|---|---|
| 1. A symbol in the value itself | R$1,200 | Brazilian real, R$1.2K |
| 2. A currency code in the column name | Revenue (EUR) or REVENUE_EUR | Euro, €1.2K |
| 3. Your default currency | Revenue, holding 1200 | Your default, £1.2K |
Some symbols belong to more than one currency. If your default currency uses that symbol, Mira picks yours: kr in an organisation whose default is the Norwegian krone reads as Norwegian krone. Otherwise Mira picks the most common one, so kr reads as Swedish krona and £ as British pounds.
Each figure keeps the currency it was given when Mira made it, so changing the default later doesn't relabel figures already on a dashboard. To change one, edit the card: every money value has a Currency field.
Default language
The default language is the language Mira writes in when it describes your data: what each table holds and what each column means, as you see them in The data catalogue. You can choose English or Español.
For an organisation that works in Spanish, choose Español. A column called importe_neto is then described as "Importe neto de cada factura, sin IVA" rather than "Net amount of each invoice, before VAT", so people read the catalogue in the language they work in.
This is not the language of the app, or of Mira's answers. Each person chooses those for themselves on their Profile, so a Spanish organisation can still have someone who uses Mira in English.
